GARY GERRARD
FOR CONGRESS – 10th DISTRICT
Gary Gerrard is an Athens
native who is running for Georgia’s 10th District Congressional Seat to replace
Representative Paul Broun who has vacated his seat in order to join the
senatorial race that will determine the successor of U.S. Senator, Saxby
Chambliss, who is retiring.
With over $16 Trillion of
debt that continues to increase by the second, a sluggish GDP, painstakingly
slow job growth, and a Congress that spends more time bickering and
name-calling than working on these problems, it has become apparent to Gary
that Congress is broken. Gary believes that he can help get Congress back to
doing the job assigned by the Constitution and expected by the American people.
.A dedicated professional,
Gary’s career in law began in Miami, Florida where he earned a reputation for
thoroughness, dedication and tenacity in representing his clients. Gary
continues today to find great satisfaction in helping people in the Greater
Athens area. He has also assisted with many pro bono cases. Gary has lived by
the motto on his business card: “Your trust is more important than your money.”
Gary has always demonstrated
a great passion for public service, which is what has impelled him to pursue
his United States Congressional campaign. His experience involves a variety of
areas including law, small business, urban planning and non-profit
organizations devoted to alleviating poverty. Gary served as Chairman of the
Oglethorpe County Development Authority from 1998-1999. A rural county with a
population of less than 15,000, the authority had been inactive for fifteen
years. As Chairman, Gary proposed a unification of the water systems of the
small cities in the county, which only recently has been accomplished.
Gary Gerrard has an admirable
history of civic involvement, community support and public service, and has
willingly taken on challenges that others have declined.
Living and working in the
Greater Athens area, Gary became a Paul Harris Fellow with the Oglethorpe
County Rotary Club and participated in the North East Georgia Technical Career
Academy Design Team, the American Cancer Society, the Oglethorpe County Chamber
of Commerce, and the Georgia Bar Association. In 2012, Governor Nathan Deal
appointed Gary to the Public Defender Supervisory Panel for the Northern
Judicial Circuit where he continues to serve.
Gary is eager to put his experience and dedication to work for the
people of Georgia.
Garry is a conservative with
real solutions to the problems facing our state, Gary is determined to step-in,
step-up, and earn your trust and your vote.
Stephen
Simpson: Retired Army Officer. Small
businessman. Conservative Republican. Running to represent Georgia's 10th
District in Congress. www.voteforsimpson.com
A
native of Milledgeville, Stephen and his wife Susan of 38 years retained their
Milledgeville residence throughout his military service, which took him and his
family from Virginia to Arizona to two tours in Europe. Stephen grew to
understand that a true leader thinks of himself last and reaching our
collective goals requires truth, duty, and honor to country.
Stephen served in the United States Army for twenty years, before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His final six years were at the Pentagon. He was an intelligence officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency and later served the Secretary of the Army in the Office of Congressional Liaison.

Stephen
is running for Congress because, like so many Americans, he was personally hurt
by the recent economic disaster. The federal government keeps talking about job
training, but it's a waste of time when there are no jobs. Stephen believes
that we must do what we know works--remove the uncertainty from the tax system
that keeps business from growing because they don't know what tax consequences
they may face down the road. Fundamental reform of the tax codes will allow
businesses to grow and encourage them to invest again.
In the halls of Congress Stephen worked for the Secretary of the Army on Capitol Hill where he played a key role in the development of the Army’s portion of the Defense Authorization Bill each year. Working through the budget process and witnessed the hard decisions that have to be made in our representative form of government. Stephen believes that you do not take care of people’s business by making a splash on the news networks or by an inflammatory or accusatory speech on the floor. It takes a collaborative effort for any project or program to succeed, whether it benefits the troops on the ground or a cattle farmer in Greene county.
Stephen believes that our congress needs people who are more concerned with the good of the country rather than the next election. He believes in the necessity to change the culture on Capitol Hill or risk lengthening the economic recovery. We must develop reasonable and feasible solutions to our problems rather than obstructions.
To get Georgia – and America – working again, we must develop reasonable and feasible solutions to our problems rather than obstructions.
